dear irene
August found me in dire need of a journey, but a journey to the Caribbean during hurricane season? We left Miami at dusk and flew around that hungry storm Irene, taking it wide to the south and west while lightening kindled the night. There were some interesting moments for sure.
But now we're here, and the storm's to the north. Phew. We brought snorkel gear, so nothing much to worry about beyond finding the best reefs. And avoiding the jellyfish. And running out of money...
Happy Birthday Transworld
Transworld Snowboarding Magazine is celebrating 25 years. Wow. It was my first job out of college. It was the last job I worked on this morning. My written words have helped power over half of the 200 issues published by Transworld ... makes a person kinda proud. I don't like to put too much stock into the place a person works, because I like to think that you aren't defined by where your paycheck comes from, but I am who I am to some degree because Stouff-dog gave me that assistant editor job all those years ago. Cosmic.
AOL Tickets
Just procured two tickets to see Archers of Loaf in September at the Crystal Ballroom. I'll go see 'em with my big sister, just like I did the first time. I can't even remember where that show was. An all-ages joint in Denver, with Tim and Will? Melissa, do you remember?
Generally speaking, reunion tours are weird, but it's not like these guys were ever gigantically famous millionaires, so I don't really see it as a sell-out kind of thing. More like, for fun. And I like fun.
