Kim Gordon: I read an article recently that reminded me why I heart her as my feminist idol. "'Kim comes off all cool and badass, but she’s really sweet and gentle and feminine,' longtime friend Sofia Coppola says, praising Gordon’s ability to draw power from vulnerability."

Almond milk lattes: Richer and more toasty than ones made from rice or soy, markedly less phlegm-inducing than the cow's milk variety.

A break in the weather: It's oddly moving when a long stretch of weather—even if it's not bothering you none—ceases quietly in the night, and you wake up at dawn to find a very fresh situation outside your windowpane, kinda like some ole friend you forgot you were missing.

Tangerine: The color, the fruit, and most especially the Led Zeppelin song. Warm and loose—and gone before ya know it.

Meteor showers: When celestial arrows split the dark sky over  your head, you feel special I don't care who you are.

Trumer Pilsner: Crisp, that's the main word to describe it. Does not require sunshine but perfectly accompanies it.

Bike rides in the warm rain: Not torrential, mind you. It's nice!

Corn meal crust pizza: I ate at Dove Vivi last night and was reminded about the virtues of the kind of pizza so thick, rich, and savory you only need one piece (plus one to take home wrapped in brown wax paper for breakfast in the morning).

Christopher Walken: His humor-based stuff, specifically. There's a kind of senile genius about him, isn't there?

Perrier: Cold, pure, filled with bubbles of joy. It's like regular water, only more uplifting.

75 degrees: Arguably the perfect temperature. Warm but not hot. Sandals weather, but not pit-sweat weather. Pleasant. A non-invasive summer milieu.

Dogs at the beach: A specimen of happiness. I defy you to feel depressed or sorry for yourself watching your little friend peeling out every which way and nipping at the surf.

Celeste And Jesse Forever: Funny, awkward, real—the good kind of rom com.

Raining while the sun is out: A spring phenomenon. Very glittery.

Fig jam and fontina on toast. It's like Europe in your mouth.

Wallrides. Something I've been working on lately at Commonwealth. The concept of doing one defies physics—and yet, they are possible.

Plain Whole Milk Yogurt, European Style: I could and often do just spoon it straight out of the container. It's creamy and so rich that you don't need no honey or agave syrup or stevia extract or whatever the kids are using to make things sweet these days. It fills your belly with life-affirming joy.

Podcasts: As it turns out, I need to be read a story at bed time just like a little baby. It's because I have so many worries, hopes, and fears rippling through my brain on a moment to moment basis that falling asleep is actually pretty difficult. Watching TV just keeps the li'l brain machine spinning, as does reading, although not quite as much. But with podcasts, especially Stuff You Should Know, Fresh Air, and Science Friday, I can just lie there and let the tales take me off into sleepsville. And sometimes I learn something.

Sleep Walk With Me: Have you seen this? "A burgeoning stand-up comedian struggles with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore," says IMDB. True story. Funny, but dark, with all sorts of true-to-life awkwardness. Good stuff!

This Song: It soars and stuff.
